where does or did /lit/ go to college? how was your experience with the literary community, if there was one at all? on that note, best college for writers/readers/literarily-oriented?

Conservative catholic college, you've never heard of it.

No literary community at my school really.

Best college? The one that suits YOU.

Tufts. Literary community largely a shit because most people who liked to write were either SJW mouthpieces or girls more focused on breaking into journalism than creating art. I had some great professors for sure, but couldn't tell the difference in taste between STEM kids who liked to read and the average English major.

Funny. Tufts was actually one of my options. Great school. It was between that, Swarthmore, Wesleyan, and NYU.

wanna-be intellectuals who pretended to read 3/4's of our assigned readings.

>on that note, best college for writers/readers/literarily-oriented?

your own library. note that i'm not claiming you shouldn't go to college: but i learned more studying on my own time than in class. the most valuable part of college is being forced to develop a writing habit, learn to write for/against an audience, being edited and so on. but you'll only 'learn' by working outside of class hours.

in my most humble opinion

I didn't... I was impatient and believed going to New York would facilitate emotional growth and some sort of resiliency. And it did, I'm not going to deny that. I've made observations and have had experiences here that I consistently draw from for my writing, and my life in general. Now that I have grad school in mind though, it's now dawning on me that Swarthmore was most likely the superior choice if we're talking about academia, and a more traditional college experience. I'm not fucked, am I?

Transferring out of OSU. Terrible lit community. Some decent professors, but most of the MFA students are the same recycled shit you'd find in Iowa, and the undergrads are simply abysmal.

sounds like someone doesn't understand how frats work.

Every chad who goes to those mad frat parties was first molested in the frat basement by his chad predecessor. There's nothing beta about being molested.

I go to Arizona State. The normal college is pretty pleb, but the Honors College I'm in has new dorms, tons of perks, and a bright student body. Its either ranked the top honors college in the country or close to it.
