Christopher was a hugely important journalist and scholar. I always get the feeling that Peter wanted, and was jealous of, the limelight his older brother was starting to have. Taking the opposite stance was a deliberate act on Peter's part. If their was no Christopher to begin with, Peter would be the Regional Manager for some insurance company now.

Peter's career as a journalist took off before his older brother's. He was a correspondent in the Soviet Union before anyone had even really heard of his brother. Not true at all.

Margret Thatcher was BTFO by Peter's opinion piece on her. Don't know much more about him than that, but he's a journalist, not a serious academic writer, so of course he's cancer in academic terms. John Milbank is the orthodox Anglican of choice if you're reading academics, and he's a lot more critical of capitalism than Peter is.

Being a journalist is not being a major public figure. Peter has risen on the coattails of his brother.
