Howdy, /lit/. I was wanting to finally get around to reading Jurassic park.

However, there seems to be a lot of different versions of it. I was wondering which version you recommend the most.

I'm a hardcover man. I like the way they look a lot more than paperback, so I'm only interested in hardcover.
On amazon they have the hardcover as orange, but I can't seem to find any pictures of an orange JP book.

Or, should I just get the Jurassic park and lost world 2-in-1? It's a bit pricier, but I like the way it looks. The only thing I'm apprehensive about it is I hear Lost world isn't that good. I'd hate to pay more just for a prettier cover and another story I wouldn't want/wouldn't like.

Just by the fucking book you cunt. I thought this was going to be a thread about the content of the books but you're asking about the fucking covers.

Cunt.

I'm asking about which edition is the most recommended, not the the cover exclusively.

The Franklin Books one. It's bound in aged Velociraptor leather and has an alt title on the cover. It's only a few hundred $.

Is there any reason in particular that it's $900?

I like the Barnes & Noble collectible edition. It has shiny page edges and it looks cool.

I agree, I love the way it looks. But I keep seeing people talk about the ink bleeding, is that true?

Is the lost world good? I hear it isn't as good as the original, but it isn't as bad as the movie was, was it?

Holy shit, just get the cheapest copy you can find and if you like it, worry about buying a nice edition. Its not like the different printings have different endings.

I had no issues in my copy.

On the barnes and noble page for it some of the reviews say the ink runs a bit, I think mostly on the spine. Think it might have been an issue for early copies?

Oh, that's neat. Is it signed by the author or the one who garnished the edition?

I want to read this book, but i've already seen the movie

Is there another book about a monster befested area that i could read instead?

I like the Barnes and Noble edition. The illustrations inside the cover look cool.

Why worry about this though? The books is mediocre and the sequels are shit.

Do NOT get the hard cover red Ballantine Books version. Not sure if its just mine but I've never seen so many mistakes in printing. Fuck.

What do you mean? Are you saying the book and it's sequel are bad? Don't really understand what you were trying to get across.

Wait, is that the one on amazon? http://www.amazon.com/Jurassic-Park-Michael-Crichton/dp/1613835051/

It doesn't look red to me. It looks orange.

The Lost World, both the Doyle and the Jurassic Park sequel

lel no.

You're just saying that because you read them and liked them and now you need a post hoc "patrish" rationalization for it.

Not poster but if you like Doyle's Lost World I recommend Greg Bear's meta-sequel Dinosaur Summer.

There's nothing patrish about genre fiction, friend. It's the book equivalent to a "popcorn flick".

The book equivalent to a popcorn flick would not be genre fiction, it's one rung lower--pulp.

No, Pulp is equivalent to B movies.

The movie Jurassic Park is a popcorn flick. The book Jurassic Park is a pile of didactic bullshit that reads like something a middle schooler wrote after playing with his toy dinosaurs and hearing a one sentence summary of rousseau's Theory of Natural Human.
