I liked the majority of the post, but no offense m8 true patricians read art for entertainment. This is where the whole "guilty pleasure" thing kinda comes up among women who feel like reading Gaddis is "personal homework" and have a "guilty pleasure" for reading genre fiction.

What if I want to be a patrician, but I have trouble paying attention to reading. I don't think it's ADD, because I can play the same vidya for hours on end, so I have no attention problems except for reading.

I've tried listening to other people's advice about setting smaller goals and going to a quiet place to read, but my mind still wanders and I end up staring into space thinking of something else. Sometimes I get really frustrated that it's been half an hour and I can't even get through five pages.

Do I just have to accept I'm a pleb and leave? I really don't want to go. I like it here, even if I haven't read any of the books, I like reading what other people say about them, and there are some very funny memes here.
