Yeah but any reading of his work obviously reveals the guy was way into the trippiness of the 60s. Heinlein may not have gone as batshit crazy about it as Ellison, but in both their stories you see the impact of the culture upon their works as they progress through time.
I just started reading Ellison, outside of the very occasional short story in my childhood, about 6 months ago, and it was incredibly obvious to me the guy was a hippy.
