I think it's sad that modern day feminism and other social-justice groups have become so narcissistic and postmodern. It ends up leaving a bad taste for social justice in the general population's mouth and ends up stumping real progress.People nowadays get their exposure to feminism from "feminists" who learned everything they know from tumblr blogs and such. This rhetoric ends up causing people who see through it to be "against feminism" instead of against pseudo-feminism and this hinders any interest in actually helping women who need help. Feminism should have allowed itself to assimilate into the larger framework of humanitarianism or even just liberalism in the 80s. Liberalism itself should have gone through some renovations around that time and realized the struggles it had for a long time were over with for the most part and that it was time to focus on new goals. Liberalism as such isn't so bad. It's just that, like other political positions, as time went on people started utilizing its devices for personal gain and thus had to keep bending it to fit their own interests. Its like how Conservatism became the reserve of greedy ignorant assholes but just backwards. Political labels in general are a bit unnecessary if you aren't actively participating in politics in some way. It's what I can't stand about this time. The way that people try to find an identity through ideology. It's like, in the 80s and 90s young people tried to find identity through mass media and consumerism and people today think they have escaped that with the Internet and information but they don't see that its still just trying to find an identity for yourself through consumerism because everything has been co opted. Even if it's not by some big corporate monopoly and even if it isn't necessarily for money. It's like Spirit Science. Sure the dude who runs it makes a profit but he mainly sells people on the bullshit ideas in order to be admired and for people to share the "inspirational" phrases on Facebook and such. It might sound cynical or edgy but I almost wish that if people had to find personal identity by indulging in consumerism they would at least be able to recognize their entrapment and shrug it off or at least not see it but today people genuinely think they are escaping being enslaved by group think by subscribing to group think

Identity politics are never good, whether they be women, gays, workers, or transvestites.

Within two sentences I can tell you don't know what you're talking about. Try and articulate yourself in a clearer way while avoiding cliches and terms you don't understand.

After so much time trying to tell you fucks about this, instead of being happy you finally realized it I'm genuinely mad.

literally everyone with half a brain knows not to take SJW feminism seriously. Real progress is going on in universities amongst legitimately intelligent people, people who don't waste their time with petty internet squabbles.

Isn't this basically what most intelligent people in the universities already thinks? Tumblr has never been the "face" of feminism; that's a misconception amongst people outside of the humanities.

Absolutely. The type of political insight you have when you're 17 and you realise "both sides suck" and think you're smart for it

so what is the point, when you're attacking feminism then bring up both sides sucking? what is further along your reasoning from there?
why is it that your position sucks less than theirs, rather than simply what is wrong with their position?

>> No.6683536

It would be nice if you people would learn about intersectionality before spouting off dumb shit about feminism and identity politics
