Why are female readers large consumers of young adult literature?

>> No.6676497

because young adult literature targets (supposedly young) female readers

Because it's fun to make shitpost threads when you're bored. That's why.

Because women are incurable philistines.

We've been over this, people. There has not been a rebuttal to date.

quoting my man schopenhauer
>"women are basically big children"
or something to that effect, i don't fucking know the exact phrasing he used, but society is easy on them, they don't have the pressure men do

they can and most do continue reading young adult shit, because it's acceptable for women of any age, they never grow out of it

that's how i feel anyway, reflecting on my own experiences and pressures growing up. totally unsubstantial, i know, but i don't care, that's just how shit seems to me

Serious answer, stepping aside from the misogynistic circle jerk: Women read a lot more than men.

I'm not saying women read a lot more literature than men; I'd don't know the stats but it'd probably be closer to even, since there are a lot more male academics, although women might still have a slight edge.

But women in general read a ton, and most people, men or women, don't have the intellect to great literature. So a huge amount of women consume YA, since it's easy and fun.

As to why? I don't know, but I would guess it's just part of their nature. Women are emotional people and think more in terms of emotion and characters, whereas men generally think in terms of concepts, so novels appeal more to women.

I can speak from experience, I know lots of 30+ women whose primary entertainment is a paperback, whereas most guys play videogames or surf the internet, hobbies which aren't as common among women.

But yeah, it's not some "le women are plebs, men are patrician." More like women read paperbacks while men play vidya/surf the internet.
