So which Lem's book should I read after this? What was his best book, what was his weirdest?

The Futurological Congress is pretty great. Solaris is more or less unanimously vonsidered his best, but some anon in some other thread said Fiasco was even better,,whcih got me to order it, but I haven't gotten far enough to judge.

His Master's Voice if you want to read a more pessimistic, slightly dry Contact

The Robot Fables (different collections out there) if you want to laugh

There are some really good ideas in the Pirx The Pilot short stories

Which would be the most surreal? If there is one like that.

I guess The Futurological Congress is very surreal, it's more over the top satire than "thought" SF

I'd add The Invincible, I consider it as good as Solaris, and Golem XIV.

Also A Perfect Vacuum, reviews of not existing books, little bit Borgesian, really good.

Return from the Stars is my favourite

My copy of Cyberiad leaves out the last story. Is there an unabridged English translation?

>> No.6653148

I've only read Hospital of the Transfiguration, which isn't sci-fi in the slightest, but it is incredible.

"First Spaceship on Venus" was one of my favorite films when I was younger, I came to find out recently that it was based on a book by Lem called, "The Astronauts" or something similar. I've only been able to find Polish and Russian translations of the book...
Does anyone have any more info on this book? Know if it's any good?
