I've read it, and I'm really not sure where to recommend it. It has the unfortunate side effect of making you psychoanalyze every one of the protagonists of his stories/novels (self inserts, the lot of them), arguably giving you more knowledge of how they should be.

In short, it depends on what you think of 'death of the artist', but remember, this is a one way street.
