How big's the book, though? If it's like 1000 pages, come on guy you gotta step it up.

If it's like 200 pages, no big deal mate.

>100 pages a day

I'm a fairly slow reader, and I can do that in 4 hours, less if the pages are smaller.

>> No.6523627

>>6523586
It's about three to four hours for me (though less for dense non-fiction and history texts of course), but that's about all the time I can spare. I'm considering dropping my internship and hobbies and sticking to a strict ascetic regimen of twelve hours of reading a day. If I did that, I could cut that forty years to about thirteen years of intense study, meaning that by the age of ~35 I'll have spent less than a third of my adult life, and yet have the entire literary canon and essential history, business, general non-fiction, contemporary etc. reading behind me, which I expect will more than make up for the lost fifteen years of career building. In fact, if I sleep for six hours a day, then that would only occupy only two thirds of my time, leaving me at least some light study or part-time employment to fall back on.

As a general rule I read 50 pages a day if the book is absorbing and 25 if I'm just trying to get through it. With philosophical works I'll sometimes spend a few days just contemplating a page or two to digest the info. I'm reading The Society of The Spectacle and you need to really think about it for days to get a grasp of what Debord's trying to get across.

I always feel like this, I just push on through it, freeing myself of that pain by replacing it with the refreshing prose of the next author, making for an incredibly exciting read. At best I'll stay away from a book for a day if the last one I read makes me feel nauseous, however if the next book that I attempt to read makes me feel like I'm a lamb that has been through a meat grinder and then stitched up again, I'll usually give myself a few extra days off and replace the void with other media.

Theres this thing I really hate about books.
every single moment you are aware which page you are on, and how many are left ( might just be an estimate)
You never ask yourself if there are 2000 pages left because you know the book only has like 800.
I fucking hate that. japanese porn games don't have that problem.

Nigger there are literary corpus's such as Sanskrit that you will never have the time to learn for to read in the original but now as a NEET you can. You should plow through French as fast as possible then pick a linguistically foreign language with a rich history so you can be one of the few who will be able to enjoy it in the greatest form.

Git gud
