ambition creates an artificial meaning of life, but most who are ambitious will never amount to anything that satisfies them. Is there a point to ambition when doubt exists?

ambition itself is not an end

ambition focused on a singular goal is, as is ambition focused on a particular ideal

Ambition borrows pleasure from a future expectation being met, which is why success cannot satisfy only relieve us from the pain of not meeting said expectation. This process calls for the next higher goal to be quickly inserted after every success as a kind of tolerance builds up.

Doubt plays a part in ambition when we perceive the effort to be unworthy of the reward which can never be judged perfectly so it is always eventually turned with positive irrationalities either way. This aspect is that which women are most adept at noticing in men, latching on to and co-opting towards their desires.
