As there is no general knowledge about the being of something intellectuals try to fill the void with meaning that is determined by their personal perspective. They need to stand their ground in order to afford a living for what they are doing as a profession. They try to achieve intersubjective acceptance of how they interprete things and it's obvious that this process can't be harmonic. And it shouldn't be as something like gender roles really is not worth all the attention it currently gets.

After all the complete academic system is a farce that trys to legitimate and reproduce itself. Maybe in the future it will finally be replaced by companys that focus on producing perspectives and knowledge without questioning the premises of its actions anymore. Its only legitimation will be what society or politicians or the free market asks for.
I personally would prefer the current farce though which at least lives by critical and interesting discourses (to a certain degree).
