Has anyone here actually read this?

Did you know the book is a never ending loop that begins where it ends? That's brilliant.

I, too, have read Wikipedia

I own a copy of the book. I read about this first 20 pages and began to enjoy the rhythm and cadence of it...then I put it down and forgot about it.

I don't enjoy anything Joyce wrote.

I can think of another ethnic group that likes to think of itself as "soulful" and frankly I'm not surprised to hear the same coming from an Irishman!

how does one go about 'understanding' finnegans wake? seems to be quite a bit of secondary literature.

more like the literary equivalent of this though

I love Joyce, but I don't see myself giving Finnegans Wake a real attempt any time soon. My uncle is the only person I know who has actually read it. He let me borrow the book along with Campbell's Skeleton Key, but they've just been sitting on my shelf gathering dust. Maybe someday.
