What is your favorite high fantasy adventure novel? Or series?

Personally, I'm a fan of Redwall.

>> No.6449728

I'm interested in the genre but I'm a complete newfag. Is Redwall something you'd recommend for someone barely getting into it or is it tastier with a genre backlog behind you?

>> No.6449740

i enjoy the warhammer fantasy battles universe and the 40k spinoff, but other than that, it's pretty much a stagnant genre.

If you like songs, cute animals, great descriptions of food, and formulaic storylines, then its for you. Taggerung was maybe the only book in the entire series that deviated from Jacques' formula.

I tried to read Redwall around the same time I tried to read LotR and I hated them both.

Then I read LotR ten years later and it was great.
Will Redwall be great if I read it now too?

I want to get high and read the 6000 word descriptions of the spread at the redwall feasts. Btw what is cordial and how do you make it out of dandelions?

>> No.6449852

>>6449786
In Britain I think cordial is a kind of sweet drink made from fruit or flavored with fruit. I guess if you were an anthropomorphic mouse you could make it from dandelions and that would be good...

Could be worse though, could be reading A Song of Ice and Fire

I love Inkheart. I would not recommend the full trilogy, but the first book was excellent. Even if it is geared towards children.

>> No.6452120

>>6451240
It's always the same pattern with her stories, though. And I think that Inkheart is even worse in that respect than Thief Lord.
