I think following the 60's the Left has become just another aspect of the "mass culture" that Adorno and Macdonald warned us about. It's never about emancipation and critical thinking anymore: we've replaced books with Refused and Immortal Technique, we replaced organization for vain displays of anger, and the art of politics itself for some kind of "lifestyle leftism" where people just dress weird and slam poetry. It's all just another stage on our standardized life course, that of 20's radicalism, which you must laugh at when you hit 30.

In terms of political platforms, the welfare that was once a stage towards socialism is now the end-goal and has done nothing but alienate the middle-classes (who are the ones really burdened by income taxes) and left the lower classes complacent. It has become the frontline of a war we can't win, so we can never see past it anymore. There's also identity politics, which as a 4chan boarder I'm sure you're aware of how shitty it is.
