What's /lit/'s opinion on Fernando Pessoa and/or his heteronyms? Do you prefer his poetry or prose? Also, what do you think about the whole heteronym invention and execution?

I don't mind heteronyms. Everyone is morally equal imo and shouldn't be discriminated against

i don't see how a heteronym is Functionally different from a character in a story, so they are of course 'fine'. I can't read portugese but The Book of Disquiet got old although I do enjoy his poetry by Caeira

the idea of a heteronym is stupid
as >>6386891 said, it's no different than the character in a book

They seem to differ, though, in the sense that the focus is directed to the personality and style of the heteronyms and how they relate to each other. For example, Caeiro is more important than Pessoa itself, and is his master.
I just find it a really interesting case in literature, and the first of it's kind.

The Book of Disquiet is one of the most beautiful things I've read, very relatable to me.

Nunca serei nada.
Não posso querer ser nada.
À parte isso, tenho em mim todos os sonhos do mundo.

Most books focus on the reactions of the characters to stimulation and it's impllications.
