What's going on in this pic?

Also, for OP, I would think outer maintenance is a factor of personality.

We are taught that those are two conflicting things. Every tv show has a joke about "s/he has a great personality" to say s/he's ugly. Obviously people who never go out of their houses to meet people will act as the tv taught them to.

It's trying to imply that women have an impossibly high standard. In the normal course of things that graph would be highest in the middle and smallest on each end, instead according to the graph most of the dudes online are ugly and none of them are ideal.

Isn't it possible that people who resort to online dating, both male and female, are not a good representation of people as a whole? Not saying this info is actually correct, but I don't think online daters are typical.

This, I'm mid-20s in a western country. All of my single friends use Tinder and most have or have had an OKCupid account.

It's just much easier that hoping someone will wander I to your life.

OKCupid in particular has a pretty young user base, compared to most dating sites.

People used to find life companions in the newspaper only 30 years ago. It's how my grandparents met. Internet makes the practice ubiquitous and adaptive. Internet dating has now standard, especially amongst girls. That is to say, girls don't really get the stigma that guys get from it. The amount of guys online is massive so it's only reasonable to expect that a girl's internet dating endeavors are pretty much prepped for success right from the get-go.

So this is basically saying that people trick themselves into thinking that they want to date attractive people because they have good personalities?

I have to say I'm a little surprised. I thought we had moved beyond this naivety.

the conclusion of the green spike ofr the best attractive males is that the myth that women does not go for looks is false.

It means that the better you look, the better the personality people will expect you to have. There's been hard scientific studies on it. It's a fact of nature.

Schopenhauer literally predicted this and went a step further. He said that looks actually are a sign of character.

less attractive girls are less likely (on average) to approach chads in comparison to more attractive girls. I don't see where you are debunking the myth. It's also not a spike, it's just starting at a lower position and going back to a more predictable line.

If anyone is curious, here is the exact quote and a different representation of the data

>men
"Our chart shows how men have rated women, on a scale from 0 to 5. ... Given the popular wisdom that Hollywood, the Internet, and Photoshop have created unrealistic expectations of how a woman should look, I found the fairness, and, well, realism, of this gray arc kind of heartening."

>women
"As you can see from the gray line, women rate an incredible 80% of guys as worse-looking than medium. Very harsh. ... Paradoxically, it seems it's women, not men, who have unrealistic standards for the "average" member of the opposite sex."

The dip in the beginning for both genders of the most attractive people is interesting. Doesn't it imply that the least attractive people don't reply to advances from the most attractive people? So then people are sorting themselves. Like, the ugliest people know they don't belong with the more attractive so they ignore even the chance of it.
