Hi /lit/, what bourgeois literature do you recommend to a fellow bourgeois?

I just finished reading Nostromo by Joseph Conrad and thought it was pretty bourgeois. It narrates a revolution in a fictional south american coutry, and presents the british and blue-blooded spanish elite as civilized and enlightened, while presenting the revolutionaries as violent negro rabble.

I thought it was pretty interesting, as 20th century literature has been pretty much dominated by marxist thought and would have painted the revolutionaries in a sympathetic light.

So what other novels would you guy categorize as bourgeois literature?

I feel like pretty much any European literature around the 1800s falls into that category. Flaubert, Chekov, Mann, Proust...granted, none of those have the same imperialist tint as Conrad apparently does, but they strike me as bourgeois.

I'm interested in the book, not the author. Marx was pretty bourgeois too.

Nothing, I believe in free speech, unlike leftists. I'd just appreciate it if you gave genuine suggestions instead of obvious trolling.
