About to start Journey to the End of the Night, what should I expect? I read a really edgy afterword at the end of the book and I'm starting to think maybe Celine is kinda a french bukowski.

Ugh, Vollman's afterword? Shit sucked. It's like he didn't read the book.

What should you expect? I bitter, jaded narrator who happens to have a soft spot for something or other and a knack for describing absurd situations with the utmost hilarity. Sure, there's vitriol, but the book is really a comedy.
