I went to a shitty business school. Very few writing outlets. Ethics class. Professor wages a challenge. If any of us can write a paper on a topic he's never heard before we won't have to take any of the tests, won't have to write the other 4 papers and get a perfect score for the class. I wracked my brain and wrote the paper on a dream I had about a privately funded organization synthesizing a nanobot/nano machine that could stop aging by constant revitalization on the cellular level. The argument of the paper was that no government agency could ever be allowed to have access to it because it would get out and cause disastrous overpopulation once it got out. The overall point was that the scientists involved were the only subject matter experts capable or qualified to study/handle it.I cited guidelines from the dea to the fda to homeland security to be extra through.

I was struggling with my fiction because two of my professors were telling me that I needed more description and exposition in my work; I felt like adding what they asked was against my style and stuck out like a sore thumb but I added it in anyway.

Eventually I got a class with a professor that was also a senior editor at a major publishing house. She thought my original work was amazing and the edited work was over written.

I felt vindicated as fuck after that.
