/lit/ tends to be relatively open towards feminism and generally left-wing philosophies. I mean, many threads about politics become shittstorms of shitposts that the janitors clean up by deleting the threads

I guess it was such a taboo for such a long time that there's very little fiction about it. Consider that good old homosexuality barely started being something you could write about in the 50's, if you were a woman and gave them a bad end.

This coupled with the fact that since trans as a topic has become more mainstream than it ever has, any discussion about it requires a mastery of tightrope walking, since anything you write can and will be misconstrued as offensive, misrepresentative, and grounded in "cis gendered reappropriation."

We couldn't write about Trans before because it was considered degenerate, and we can't write about it now because we could be seen as intolerant.

Stop using this meme you fucking retard. IT would have been considered immoral, not "degenerate".

HA
Palahniuck has a book with every single horrible stereotype you could think of and no one cares about. I'm not mad at him since he clearly was trying to be shocking and didn't think it through, but if it had been the same with black people he would had been ruined.

he's using the word correctly, dumbass

Because he's a hack who no one in the literary world ever took seriously to begin with.

Even more reason to hate on him, but the book passed without any pain or glory. He did Choke right after, I think, and that got a film adaptation.

There's not very much. It kind of sucks. I'm a transsexual and I write exclusively trans characters because that's the perspective I'm familiar with and can get behind. Very few people get published and very few people write trans characters. On top of that, publishers don't want to print fringe-ier stuff when they can print the hundredth young adult story about a co-ed group of teenagers in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Why not write the hundred and first young adult story about a co-ed group of teenagers in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, get published, be recognised by your readers as an accomplished trans author, and then maybe use your success to convince people to publish a trans-perspective story?

No, worse. I write romance stories with terrible self-insert characters.

I don't like young adult stories (save for a few good ones). I have been published locally, but only under pseudonyms.

I'm making enough money to live comfortably and pay my medical expenses, so why should I waste my time writing things I don't want to write when I can finally live my life the way I want to live it?
