I don't read. I haven't since middle school. I got a loot crate a couple months ago with pic related in it. Omg. The 80s references... Read the whole thing and now I want to read moar!

TL;DR: can anyone give Me recommendations on nerdy dystopian books to read?

My sister-in-law gave me this book for Christmas because it's "totally geek" and has "all the references" and that it's "basically a classic of cyberpunk".

I skimmed the back of the book. "So it's basically like Snow Crash?" I said.

"Oh no, this book is MUCH better. None of the gross racism and misogyny, or stupid random mesopotamian sub-plot."

I admit. I fail at reading quality. It's My first book in over a decade. Bear with Me a little.

Okay. Read Snow Crash, by Neil Stephenson. It's better in every way, and it's not even that good.

Noted. Saw some threads for Dune and neuromancer. Good for beginning reading at 27?

Ey man it's all good. Some people start reading at a later date, the important part is just reading. If I were you I'd start with some of the classics, there's a sticky right on the first page that has a LOT of reccommended reading. I started out with A Clockwork Orange a while ago, perhaps it'd fall in your taste too? Check it out! Otherwise, it's a clever move to start with the greeks. But most importantly, just make sure you read! 'Refined' taste may take a while to start acquiring, however, just reading puts you above most people. Remember that! Enjoy yourself and prosper in life. Good luck, buddy.

Here's your reading list:
Snow Crash
Diamond Age
Neuromancer
Enders Game
Dune
The Sirens of Titan
The Book of the New Sun
Lolita

You are now one super literate, classy fuck. Do it.

I Am Legend.
It has nothing to do with what you want, but it's good.
>that dog chapter

Read the hitchhiker guide to the galaxy, it's right up your alley. If you want to step up a bit try The Man Who Was Thursday.

I'll recommend The Little Prince, Enders game and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.

They're technically children's books but the themes are mature enough that they're still good reading for adults and serve as great light reading to edge into more serious and dense literature. All three are basically 5/5 godlike books so enjoy.

Do androids dream of electric sheep. Philip K. Dick.
The film is trash, the book is goat.
Title is a reference to The Little Prince by St Exupery. (small boy in the desert dreams of sheep, so they draw him a box (the sheep is inside, but sheep are fucking difficult to draw))

The thing is that it was already a disliked book before so many people got it by lootcrate, that makes it extra funny to hate because you're getting so late to the party.

Dude they're two completely different pieces of art. I agree the book is a fucking master piece on animal rights/consumerism/selfishness but the film is entertaining
