What electronics do you use to read your books, /lit/?

I've found that carrying my 1000 pages books are not so healthy after all.

I didn't know I only had to read a book in public places to get mad pussy. I guess I'll go buy Lolita or something.

Im looking to get a Pocketbook Touch Lux 2. It has memory card slot and mp3 capabilities, which sounds nice to me. I don't have a smartphone and don't wanna carry 3 devices all the time. Otherwise I'd get a Kobo or a Nook or whatever is very cheap.

Electronic devices should only be used for light/brief reading, if not because it's bad for your eyes, then because your mind attempts to read faster and does not retains as much information.

tl;dr: paper is best.

Ebooks are legit. Fuck these /lit/ fags that try to turn this into a "I only listen to vinyl" situation. The only downside that most college textbooks will not be available. I love my kindle paperwhite.

Personally, I read physical books only. I don't have an eReader; if I did, I would use it because it's not without value. I just prefer physical books; I grew up with them and prefer the tactile experience of reading a book.

Books are pretty much the only medium that I insist on using non-digitally, but I don't think eReaders are for scrubs or whatever.

Forgot to mention that if I ever go on a long trip, I'll definitely be getting an eReader. Taking 10 books on a long trip is never practical.

Why would you take 10 books for a trip? Why take the trip if you're gonna read the whole time?

The more you force yourself to experience a travel the better. Even the time spent waiting fora bus is full of experiences you'd be losing.

>> No.6302193

>>6302187
I actually agree with you on that. The reason I mentioned taking an eReader on a long trip is because it's one of the few scenarios in which an eReader beats books hands down, at least in my opinion.

With that said, reading on a trip isn't much better than texting for the whole trip, waste of money.

I just use whatever is readily available, which just so happens to be, 9 times out of 10, an ebook.

I don't really give a shit what form the book takes since I only read for entertainment and I don't read fast enough or read more than one at a time, so I cant justify carrying multiple physical books, meaning there is basically no difference between carrying around my Kindle or the actual book itself.

I've got this old DELL pocket pc from at least 10 years ago that I picked up at a yardsale for $5. Can't read .pdf, But if I copy the text into a .txt and use <A href> tags in an html directory I can trick the pos into opening .txt format in the browser. It fits in my pocket, has a decent 9 hour battery life, and can hold neigh endless text on its "astonishing" 2gigs of flash memory.

also it's small enough that a glance over my shoulder won't be enough to make out what I'm reading. A must for those cursed with a taste for incredibly distasteful smut.
