As a man, what books could I read to increase my understanding of what it is to be a woman and what the female mind thinks about?

This'll help you understand what modern women fear, even if they don't acknowledge that fear.

From a somewhat a feminist point of view, "Psychoanalysis And Feminism A Radical Reassessment Of Freudian Psychoanalysis" is worthwhile. It doesn't just shit on Freud, it has a rather positive view on him.

The Second Sex gives an extensive existential exploration of female psychology. There's much to criticize, but there's no other work that does that afaik

The Feminine Mystique is of course important for housewife psychology.

From an anti-feminist pov, there's Montherlant, D.H. Lawrence, and to some extent Nietzsche (although he explicitly qualifies his opinions on women as being simply his experience without further substantiation).

Gender is a whole lot broader than sex, gender is a cultural and linguistic identity that can be attributed to sexless objects.

It's also completely useless. When 99% of people refer to someone as a "he" or a "she", they are referring to that individual's sex.

This is now going to turn into a tumblr-tier muh gender identity argument and I'm not gonna do it.
