What is authenticity? When I watch a film and desire to mimic the character, is that inauthentic? Is recognizing how cliched and childish this desire is and squashing it out of fear of social repercussions even more inauthentic?

It's truth in the sphere of action, especially social action.

It's a lack of hypocrisy and dissimulation.

>authenticity
It's a codeword for killing minorities, mainly jews.

Well, like all value judgements, it's purely subjective. But for me the threshhold is really high. I'd only call something inauthentic if it's absolutely dead-to-rights false. Like a story about how all white guys secretly wish to convert to Islam. That's a pretty inauthentic representation of the white male experience.

What a weird post. Are you mentally ill per chance?

I think for a behavior to be inauthentic it needs to involve some kind of dishonouring of one's self. So merely mimicking an admired figure is not inauthentic, in fact, you could say that it is authentic in the very truest and most meaningful sense of the world. The classic form of 'inauthenticity' is saying something you don't believe merely to curry favor with some group, or to avoid persecution.

He wants to discredit Heidegger by equating his philosophy with the Holocaust. Ignore him.

Authenticity is what we use to ensure everyone is always trying to one up one another and that modern counter-culture never coalesces into a proper movement. Nobody can be a hippie or a punk or anything else because what you're supposed to be is always changing and you have to run to keep up.

I don't always reference Stirner, but when I do adopt his terminology and framework, it's to say that authenticity is a spook
