6181720 No.6181720 [Reply] [Original]

Analytic Philosophy is the most rigorously studied philosophy in the world despite denying the human subject its own subjectivity. Any philosophy that needs to be justified through word games rather than real human emotion (which makes up 100% of our experience) is intellectual poison and has been turned into a fetishized commodity

I'm doing a Ph.D. in High Energy Physics. I'm interested in Continental Philosophy much more than in Analytical Philosophy.
It's my opinion, I'm not saying Continental is better; I'm just saying that I work day by day with a heavier mathematical apparatus than most Analytical philosophers can think of, so I'm just fine when reading Continental because I feel like that personal need is fullfilled with Physics.

I am confident you have not read a single paper of analytic philosophy in your life.

> I work day by day with a heavier mathematical apparatus
Higher abstraction does not mean it is harder. In fact, it is the exact opposite and you're a naive fool for thinking otherwise. Although, as with analytic philosophy, getting on top of a certain research subject-matter involves an intense familiarization with many unfamiliar concepts, but once you have, applied mathematics, at the end of the day, involves no theorem-proving and extends no further than mere crunching of the numbers.

Goddamn arrogant physicists, when will you learn.

>> No.6184211

Ok, I explained myself wrongly and I ended up sound arrogant, which wasn't my intention, so I apologyze.

I will rephrase: I work already with a heavy amount of abstraction, so in my free time I don't feel the need of looking for more stuff in that direction. It was different during the undergraduate, but now for personal reasons I'm more attracted to the kind of philosophy developed by Continental philosophers.

Again, my intention was not to imply "duh superior Physics master race".

Modern critical theory is doing exactly that, a process of deconstruction which stems from more continental than analytical schools of thought. To dismiss it as 'word games' is kind of ironic, given that continental thought examines the nature of being tricked by language into a fictionalised - and therefore false - reality.
