Is anybody else excited about this? It comes out in two weeks.

Also, /ishiguro general/, I guess.

I've never read an Ishiguro book before but I'm interested in this one because of the setting. So I'm looking forward to it, but I very rarely read anything contemporary so I don't know what I'll think

I am, but I'm not sure why. Remains of the day was one of my favourite books, never let me go was pretty forgettable and the short story collection was shit. I've been turned off of his other books because they sound boring or started reading them and they were shit.

But yea, I'm still hopeful it'll be bretty good.

I have the same sentiments you do on the three books you noted. I also quite liked "Artist of the Floating World" and thought "A Pale View of the Hills" was pretty OK too. Still need to read The Unconsoled and When We Were Orphans.

woah, sounds cool. I forgot he was publishing something new. I loved Never Let Me Go, and The Unconsoled gave me some interesting feels, to.

Shit cover. I plan to read his first two novels and the one about the butler one day,.

Oh Christ, Nocturnes? That was one of the most disappointing books ever. I was convinced Ishiguro would be awesome at stories. Honestly, I'll probably go back to the 90s output if I want any more of his stuff - really not sure whether or not he's gone to shit.

Is Never Le Me Go any good?

i read never let me go for class. couldn't get through it. such awful writing. a shame because his ideas are interesting.

Never Let Me Go is by far is most overrated book. Remains of the Day is near-GOAT-tier, though. Probably the most emotionally devastating book I've ever read, though it's full of humor too.

Also looking forward to it.
