What's the most /lit/ anime? I've never watched anime before, but based on the stereotypical anime fan, I don't really trust any of their recommendations.

Buddy, the narrative isn't nearly as deep as you seem to think it is. Also the characterizations is absolutely awful.

Wrap that up with typically predictable anime fight scenes, and that's FLCL. Try to glorify NGE or manga next time.

Wtf nobody said Aoi Bunkagu (Blue Literature).
They simply took the very best of Japanese literature and made single anime episodes from it (although Soseki's Kokoro got two). It's pretty dark, depressing stuff, one single episode was funny in a cynical way. But that's japanese literature. Picrelated.
