why is suicide frowned upon when literally thousands if not millions of people die every day with thousands if not millions of babies being born right alongside to replace them? Humanity's capacity to care deeply about another is extremely near sighted, why then is it such a big deal when some random person ends their life?

Suicide is only frowned upon by bigots (unless you have like 2 small kids or some other sort of moral commitment).

IN THE CURRENT WORLD, SURVIVALISM, AND SELFPRESERVATION REGARDLESS OF CIRCUMSTANCES, OR POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES, ARE PURPORTED AS UNIVERSAL VIRTUES FROM WHICH A UNIVERSAL & IMPLICIT SOCIAL CONTRACT IS DERIVED, AND IMPOSED; A VIOLATION OF THAT SOCIAL CONTRACT IS UNCONSCIOUSLY EQUATED BY MOST PERSONS TO AN AGGRESSION AGAINST THE BASIS OF SOCIETY ITSELF —"THE PEOPLE" ALIENATES & DESPISES THOSE WHO DECIDE NOT TO SUFFER WITH THEM.

most suicides come from depression
philosphical suicides are too rare to be comprehended therefore accepted
suicides are the destruction of the commitments wherein the suicidee is engaged
suicide threatens the society, especially when the death is absent in being confined to hospitals

thankfully the euthanasia and its ridiculous reactions will permit to legalize it, but reasoned peaceful fearless suicide per se will remain obscure for generations.

Why is this the board that discusses philosophy and that kinda shit? Isn't this supposed to be about books?

>inb4 something about books being about philosophy and using the word "literature"

If you listen to moot's last podcast you'll notice he made very clear he doesn't want too many niche boards. As such there probably will never be a philosophy board, and /lit/ is really the closest thing you could have.

NOT REALLY; OVERSPECIALIZATION DISSIPATES THE USERBASE; THE MORE DISSIPATED THE USERBASE, THE MORE DIFFICULT IT IS FOR A COMMUNITY TO ARISE, OR SUSTAIN ITSELF, AND FOR A CULTURE TO SYNTHESIZE —THAT IS THE FUNDAMENTAL FLAW OF "FOUR CUBED CHAN".

These, it's about having a sense of control, frowning upon suicide is at the same level as belief in free will, duty and existence being a net positive. When tens of thousands of soldiers are sent to die on the field of battle no one bats an eye but when one guy commits suicide after weighing the positives and negatives in life and saying fuck it to the biggest societal commitment of them all, keeping oneself alive and healthy, everyone loses their minds. It won't always be like this, but we're decades if not a century or two away from private suicide clinics with no restrictions.
