/lit/ talks about reading, writing (not fanfiction), philosophy, history, and art. That doesn't give you an excuse to shitpost though.

Yeah, I thought it might, but then I thought there might be a rule against it since most of the internet is basically shitty fanfiction.

It might be a bit broad a question, but what sort of writing to you find here? Poetry, prose? Is it just short stuff, or do people post huge chunks they're working on or what? Is there much of a community here for people creating writing?

I'm asking out of pure interest, I've no intention of posting anything.

It is encouraged to share your work here, primarily in critique threads. Yes, it can be poetry or prose. People sometimes post stuff from novels or short stories they're working on.
