fucking dandelion wine

all the books are p good. i personally really like lord brocktree.
as a young child the idea that an army of a million could be beaten by starving them out blew my fucking mind.

I just noticed I've never read a children's book. My childhood reading was all nonfiction or adult literature.

And I feel as though I'm missing out on a lot because of it. Should I read children's books now as an adult? I'm thinking I could pick up adult comic books like Watchmen, since it's basically the same tier as children's books.

there are a few out there that are worth your time. i work in a library and will pick one up every now and then; they're good for really bad days. finding stuff that isn't terrible is even harder, though

hmm, for more contemporary things:

leven thumps is actually well written (and probably obert skye's other stuff, though i've never looked into it)

garth nix is a terrible writer but has lots of good ideas, and he's gotten a little better over the years

kenneth oppel wrote some stories about bats that were interesting, and there were a couple of stories about airships that weren't too bad either

linda sue park is supposedly good, but i haven't read anything from her since i was tiny myself

cornelia funke made me feel nice, though it probably won't work for you if you're not a girl

these two are things:

and then there's the stuff everybody knows (madeleine l'engle, lloyd allexander, lois lowry, avi, roald dahl [the best thing he ever wrote was danny, the champion of the world"], e.l. konigsburg)

God, I autistically read through all the Animorphs multiple times. Loved them so much. Plus there's 54 books plus some extras, so its great if his school has an AR point thing like mine did.

Also Hobbit and LotR are excellant, obviously.
