Is cyberpunk anti-capitalist or is that the whole FIGHT DA MAN thing just the result of people watering it down?

Cyberpunk is a tool by the petite bourgeoise

cyberpunk has no deeper meaning than being a stylistic playground for science fiction. it's like asking if space opera is pro-empire.

Thing is, I'd say something like Star Wars has more Anti-imperialist themes than Neuromancer has anti-capitalist themes.

It's very clear in Star wars that the empire are bad guys, that power corrupts, and that democracy needs to be defended. But in Neuromancer? The Corps just ARE, and nobody even considers doing anything about it.

And yet people seem to think it's about badasses in trenchcoats fighting the man.

>sheev a bad guy
If you look at the EU (inb4 not canon) sheev basically built the empire which would be the only chance he could have fight off the Yuzahn Vong

From my point of view it is the Jedi who are evil.

this thing was the stupidest thing in all of ever, and so is just about every other "cyberpunk" thing. it is a genre with lots of potential, but it also tends to be abused by people who want appeal without putting in any effort.
