Can people recommend me a classic work of literature, less than 300 pages, that I can read before school gets in?

I'm up for any genre or format.

Oh, and if not that, then let's say Travels with Charley by Steinbeck, very enjoyable, or Of Mice and Men by the same author.

It should take you like, two hours to read

I'm reading On the Road, at the moment.

I don't really like it as much as I thought I would, if I'm being honest. The prose is interesting, but the content of the book is boring, and the themes are heavy handed and simple.

I'm done with Beat books for a while. I'll probably read some non fiction, or Crime and Punishment next.
