Well guys, I think we all know why Green married her.

John Green is literally a whore.

>> No.5924672

>>5924576
John is cuck?

>> No.5924683

What I personally detest about John Green is how terribly clever he thinks he is. Especially when his characters have oh-so-snarky and oh-so-witty exchanges of dialog.

>"Why are breakfast foods breakfast foods?" I asked them. "Like, why don't we have curry for breakfast food?"
>"Hazel, eat."
>"But why?" I asked. "I mean, seriously: How did scrambled eggs get stuck in with breakfast exclusivity? You can put bacon on a sandwich without anyone freaking out. But the moment your sandwich has an eggs, boom, it's a breakfast sandwich."
>Dad answered with his mouth full. "When you come back, we'll have breakfast for dinner. Deal?"
>"I don't want to have 'breakfast for dinner,'" I answered, crossing knife and fork over my mostly full plate. "I want to have scrambled eggs for dinner without this ridiculous construction that scrambled eggs-inclusive meal is breakfast even when it occurs at dinnertime."
>"You've gotta pick your battles in this world, Hazel," my mom said. "But if this is the issue you want to champion, we stand behind you."
>"Quite a bit behind you," my dad added, and Mom laughed.
>Anyway, I knew it was stupid, but I felt kind of bad for scrambled eggs.
Literally every conversation reads like that. They're all eyerollingly bad.

And Fault in Our Stars literally has a character who walks around with an unlit cigarette in his mouth because he's not "letting it kill him" and thus ruling over death itself. How could people read that shit and not roll their eyes at how ridiculous it is?

But let's see why John Green is so popular among sheltered teenagers who scream #yolo:
>When adults say, "Teenagers think they are invincible" with that sly, stupid smile on their faces, they don't know how right they are. We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. We think that we are invincible because we are. We cannot be born, and we cannot die. Like all energy, we can only change shapes and sizes and manifestations. They forget that when they get old. They get scared of losing and failing. But that part of us greater than the sum of our parts cannot begin and cannot end, and so it cannot fail.

I especially like how he switches it up to Elizabethan English with the "we need never be" to dazzle all the teenage idiots with an air of grandiosity. This retard is literally, unabashedly, congratulating teenagers for being teenagers because "the adults just don't get us, right?"

I really hope John Green gets into a sex scandal with one of his 12 year old fans.

Yeah it seems extremely weird and, to borrow a phrase from a much better YA book, very phony.

And if he isn't a phony, if he's completely sincere about it (don't actually know much about him, so maybe he is) there's just something very creepy about it to me, like he never grew up or gave up his "best years of his life" as a teenager. There's absolutely no sense of subtlety in his work. He uses a lot of metaphors and allusions, but is so proud of them that he explicitly points them out and explains them within the narrative. Like he has to draw attention to how creative his metaphors are and has to spoonfeed their meaning to you. The whole thing comes off as indulgent. He writes shit like (not exact quotes):
>"I felt like a grenade, like I was dangerous and could hurt the people around me"
>"I always have an unlit cigarrete in my mouth, because it symbolizes my ability to control my cancer"
There's no sense of control in his writing, no refined use of language, nothing engaging and earnest. The writing feels forced and juvenile, and his characters are almost always so one dimensional that any sort of character interaction is shallow.
It's writing that is explicitly focused on a YA demographic.

The only redeeming aspect I can think of is that his books are quick reads.

Humans may form monogamous pairs but they are not monogamous creatures by nature, they were not monogamous when they were hunter gatherers and only began forming monogamous pairs 5,000 years ago because a coupled household was a more favorable social arrangement under agriculture sysems. Our "monogamous pairs" have always been plagued with widespread cheating (see your "women are whores" infographic for further info) and today face majority divorce rates in many countries.

yes, clearly we did move to a pseudo (not actually) monogamous model, but again, you can not point to any biological evolutionary imperative for monogamy. the formation of the family was entirely a social change, and it continues to be reinforced (and enforced) by social pressures. Where these social pressures weaken, as they are in many places in the west today, you see the illusion of monogamy crumbling.

Orientalism in that sense just means an attraction/fetishizing the exotic, unless you're talking about the specific movement incorporating Chinese and Japanese influences in the late 1890s.

watching The Odyssey video 2 be fair in my hate
+1 the animations are cute and you don't see his creepy face much
-10 the double standard for women is A theme you could argue, but how is that one of the main 3 themes??
-10 his terrible affected voice when he's making a joke or saying something 'nerdy'
+2 an okay video if you're 13 and have a pop quiz next period and haven't done the reading
-5 dwelling on how many people died in the story, like this isn't Harry Potter who cares
-1,000 slut shaming! the most glaringly sexist aspect of greek society! wtf this is so embarrassing//inaccurate
-2 I don't get the female monsters=sexism! (or =not sexism) monsters are cool
-1,000 = Odysseus doesn't want Penelope to cheat on him bc sexism and slut shaming! Totally no economic and political consequences for having a bastard, esp not in Greek literature!
-500 Nothing about how cool Penelope is, just drooling over a line about her arms.
grade=-2,525 i think

I got it, let me theorize this.
tumblr represents the feminine vagina again the prevailing vestigial Patriarchal Agricultural and John Green represents the penis within the vagina. The willing capitulation of the vagina to the penis is what annoys /lit/ so, for the penis of the son is reviled by the mother, but the infant, more calculating than we expect is able to piece together and the tacit denial Oedipoidal relation is always infuriating. The strictures of authority and propriety are weaponized against the son.

> A woman with 1-3 partners was roughly four times(p<.o1), and a woman with 4 or more partners 8.5 times(p<.001), more likely to have a secondary sex partner than a woman with no other previous sexual partners

and here's another study where they used a statistical test called the Wald test which showed that premarital sex partners was much more closely correlated to infidelity than even childhood sexual abuse or level of education.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17605537

the more premarital sex partners a woman has, the more likely the marriage is to end in divorce. Marriages where the bride has only ever slept with the husband are the least likely to end in divorce.

asking
>why should i like him?
is like asking:

>why should I like Klimt?
>why should I like Tony Hawk?
>why should I like Ludacris?
>why should I like 30 Rock?

The answer is simple. You should if it that particular thing resonates you. You don't have to seek out justification for enjoying something. You especially don't need justification for someone else liking something. I like pretty poppy music, because I enjoy it (I also like avant garde music such as Electro Acoustic, drone, and lower-case). People often try to prosecute me for like Pierre Henry, Sunn 0))), or the Spice Girls. Like, why the fuck do you care about what I like if you don't like it either, Lets try to find some center-ground. Something that resonates with both of us - instead of nitpicking someone else's taste. Who gives a fuck if a bunch of kids get their pleasure from reading this middle-adged, dad-core, geeky oaf? Seriously, how are you bothered by this?
