Merry christmas /lit/

I just finished on the road and loved it. Next I'm going to move on to the Dharma Bums and Mexico City blues.

Thoughts on Jack Kerouac?

some parts were ok (like the homeless part) , but I found this book to be boring and pointless in a bad way, also name dropping for the sake of name dropping also made this book lose a lot of points for me

As great as his prose was, his tryhard-ness made The Dharma Bums a lot less interesting for me. The Beats were so annoying.

I think the pointlessness was intentional, like its their search for purpose across the American continent. Or because Kerouac wrote it on the fly and wasn't trying to construct a detailed plot
