I have been musing upon something, and perhaps you may weigh in on the matter.

Joanne Rowling aka J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter Series, has a net worth of approximately 1 billion dollars. Though she has given lots of money to charity (most likely for the purposes of tax sheltering her assets), she has not done anything for struggling writers.

Rowling herself was once a struggling author, living below the poverty line as a single mother.

Does Rowling have a moral obligation to support her fellow struggling artists since she was once like them? Or do you think there is no onus on her to do anything for writers in the way of contests or grants?

I personally think that if she had a conscience or any strand of moral fiber, she'd be giving a couple thousand every month in the form of writing grants and contest prizes, that is, if she was actually a decent person.

But she's not, as I've so adequately demonstrated.

Qualms? Queries? Concerns? Thoughts? Disagreements?

No, at least not any moreso than any other charity. In theory any author who would make it will make it with or without her help. There are probably charities that are more worthy, but it's her money and if she's being generous with it that's great, but she can at least choose who she gives it too, I mean god damn man.
