Start of Penguin Classics. Read a reasonable number of this first lot, fewer in the next picture though.

If I see a penguin classic second hand for under £1 that I don't have I tend to just buy it on the basis I might want to read it one day. Then I end up with duplicates across editions as a couple of relatives buy from for me if they see them in charity shops as well.

Good guess, but it's not a legit First Edition. Sucks too, because it was a gift from my favorite aunt (RIP) who thought she'd scored. Even worse, I tore the cover when unwrapping it.

That one is an old religious primer, but nothing special to me. Muh precious is the thin white volume on the the shelf below it, pulled slightly forward. It's an 1881 illustrated edition of "The Bells" by Poe, published by Porter & Coates in my hometown of Philadelphia (first edition in book form, I believe). Not a great poem, but among the first I remember really liking as child and a really beautiful book.

I suggest you re-read New Sun before you make any purchases because it can't really be properly appreciated with a single reading. As to what next, Urth basically answers many of the riddles of New Sun, and is told again from the perspective of Severian, whilst Long Sun is a new, and in my opinion inferior work which is simply set in the same universe. I emphasise universe because it is not set upon Urth. I didn't enjoy either of the works nearly as much as New Sun in all honesty; my favourite Wolfe novel following New Sun would probably be Peace, which I haven't even finished reading yet. As to his series, I'm not enough of a historian to really enjoy Soldier of the Mist, but I really enjoyed parts of The Wizard Knight, so I suppose I recommend that next if you want to get a series.
