Alright /lit/ I know you guys are kinda rough but I'd like to ask a favor. My father read a book while he was on tour during desert storm II and he'd talk about it every once in a while. I'd always think it sounded really cool and wanted to try it out myself but he couldn't ever remember the title nor the author's name.

All he told me about it was that the main character had this overwhelming connection to nature and that he would take his shoes off to stand in the grass. He said that stood out to him very vividly. I know this is next to nothing to go on but this anon would greatly appreciate it if you guys might be able to give me some leads it being so close to Christmas and all.

Pic related how I feel coming here

Also I tried using the search engine posted in the sticky so i didn't have to bother you but it sent me to this weird cloudflare page

Don't be intimidated, /lit/ is not that bad.

Well, it can be, but a sincere question will not be systematically shat upon

Challenge a-scat-pted.
However, that sounds like some Herman Hesse hippy shit right there. Not that I'd know. Just get "Into the Wild" instead.

Umm, only other thing I can remember is that it rains sometimes in the story. Hope that helps!

Was probably the wrong time to be on /lit/ and you lucked out. Aka: the time when all the people who think they know what they're talking about drop in to spread their emotion-based dank-ass meme opinions, making shit flare up rapidly in a pretty small and slow board.

I wish I had more to go on he doesn't even remember a time period or publisher. Someone sent it to him in a care package so he read the shit out of it. sorry. I tried looking and the only thing I could come up with was The man who was Thursday by G K Chesterton I showed him and he said it wasn't it but the writing style was similar.

For the longest time he thought it was the John Carter books but recently we found that to be false.
