Philosophical schools are roads you take to get you to what you're asserting, your "own philosophy". They are efficient, they have been argued and debated to death and have stood strong, the weak bits and links have been completely smashed to dust over time. Now sure maybe a couple of savants or geniuses among us can actually dictate an entire life philosophy to themselves and live by it but for most people they're going to take from what works. Usually small quotes or mantras that ring true with how they feel, rarely will anyone actually produce an entirely new philosophical thought, there is nothing new under the sun.

The problem is that when people start collecting ideas from various schools of thought and mashing them together. (Which is how almost everyone "defines their own thought") This leads to inefficiency between ideas, contradictions, or at times downright cognitive dissonance. Whether the person realizes they are doing this or not the effect is the same. Their "philosophy" is just a hob-cobbled mess of shit bundled together that gets them through the day.

You have to have a little humility and accept you don't have all of the answers. For a time you have to humble yourself before your self recognized masters of thought, people who have devoted their lives to virtuous or philosophical ideals. You will not fully realize the value or virtue of ideals unless you have lived through them, until they ring as true to you as the laws of gravity.

Fuck philosophy. I have literature to read and shit to do. Philosophers can jack each other off without my help.
