Hey guys

I just picked up a ton of Graffiti and texter markers.

I am severely depressed.

I am going to go around my city writing quotes from various scholars, poets ect.

There is a small newspaper in my capital city (Pop 100,000) and they report on things like this, so it will gain attention, if it does I will return with results for a bit of a laugh.

>Would anyone care to reccomend certain poems?

I plan to hit alot of buildings and I want to have quality control.

Cheers mates

Or :

Barbare

Also, some kind anon posted the text below some time ago. I quite like it, for some reason:

how to write poetry

fuck the words
as in, like, fuck the words
let the words dominate you
let the words burst into you
let them tell you what to do
tie yourself down and take the words in the goddamn face

settle down with the words
meet the words' parents
get the words pregnant
when they have cravings for expensive punctuation, go buy it
in the mornings if they puke up apostrophes and semicolons, hold their hair
watch the words balloon and glow
and when other words come out, of their own volition, alive
love them, too

Ok so I decided to print stickers also.

I can run and gun alot more area with this method.

So far I'm going to be using Aurelius heavily for advice and D.H Lawrence heavily for poetry
About 20-50 stickers for quotes anons want.
Atleast 50 stickers for my chosen works
Good/Bad?

I have about $250 to spend on stickers, I live in Australia, any help finding the best store would be great. Possibly raise it to $350 if I'm inspired by what anons think I should post, this is independant of the markers and spray paint I have. A few chemicles and marker can be removed while it's harder to remove stickers.

I won't tell you my city yet incase someone disagrees with my fun.

With my bike I could easily Blitzkreig every shopping centre and government building in one night, so with your recs I guess I can put them in certain places if requested.

OK so I went to the store about an hour ago.

I purchased about 100 labels and I've started writing on them. They'll be good fodder for street crossings and railings, ATMS ect.

I'll pop into a printer store later today to check out if I can get 25x of this quote or 30x of that poem printed out in stickers, maybe have a few lines coloured in so it's not monetone, and attracts normies, hopefuly I won't spend my entire budget.

It's black spraypaint, I want a can of red and white too so I can write like
My friend attacks my friend! (Black)
Oh Battle picturesque! (Black)
Then I turn Soldier too, (Red)
And he turns Satirist! (Black)
How martial is this place! (Black)
Had I a mighty gun (Red)

I have been half in love with easeful Death,
Call'd him soft names in many a musèd rhyme,
To take into the air my quiet breath;
Now more than ever seems it rich to die,
To cease upon the midnight with no pain,
While thou art pouring forth thy soul abroad
In such an ecstasy!
Still wouldst thou sing, and I have ears in vain—

The two best solutions are either buying a waterproof coating spray or just putting some tape over the sticker. I've done the latter with all of mine and, living in Portland where it rains a lot, they all look just as good as the day I put them up. Well, it should provided you're using decent enough paint.

There is a belief among certain sects that the soul can be strengthened and built-up and reinforced in order to become immortal and escape death. One approach to this idea is strengthening the reason and exercising it the way you would a muscle. Another approach is to do the same thing with love and with one's heart. That may or may not be what Mann was referring to, but that's why I like the quote.

Nice quotes.
Let me suggest my personal favorite, it's right up that alley:

Anyone who, at least once in his life, has not dreamed of thus putting an end to the petty system of debasement and cretinization in effect has a well-defined place in that crowd with his belly at barrel-level."

No, I don't think Tiqqun is appropriate.
Not because there's anything wrong with Tiqqun, but anarcho graffiti is sort of what you'd expect to find in a city, not exactly newsworthy, which is what OP is going for.

Fair point. But that book in particular has a lot of shocking statements wrapped in literary flair, which is what I thought OP was aiming for.
Also, damn, you're the first person I've seen on /lit/, hell, on 4chan who knows what Tiqqun is/was. i haven't managed to read all of their stuff yet (no thanks to the relative density of their prose) but I've read Theory Of Bloom and Intro To Civil War. I always keep coming back to Bloom though, it's captivated me ever since I opened it.

IT little profits that an idle king,
By this still hearth, among these barren crags,
Match'd with an aged wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
That hoard, and sleep, and feed, and know not me.
I cannot rest from travel: I will drink
Life to the lees: All times I have enjoy'd
Greatly, have suffer'd greatly, both with those
That loved me, and alone, on shore, and when
Thro' scudding drifts the rainy Hyades
Vext the dim sea: I am become a name;
For always roaming with a hungry heart
Much have I seen and known; cities of men
And manners, climates, councils, governments,
Myself not least, but honour'd of them all;
And drunk delight of battle with my peers,
Far on the ringing plains of windy Troy.
I am a part of all that I have met;
Yet all experience is an arch wherethro'
Gleams that untravell'd world whose margin fades
For ever and forever when I move.
How dull it is to pause, to make an end,
To rust unburnish'd, not to shine in use!
As tho' to breathe were life! Life piled on life
Were all too little, and of one to me
Little remains: but every hour is saved
From that eternal silence, something more,
A bringer of new things; and vile it were
For some three suns to store and hoard myself,
And this gray spirit yearning in desire
To follow knowledge like a sinking star,
Beyond the utmost bound of human thought.

my son, mine own Telemachus,
To whom I leave the sceptre and the isle,--
Well-loved of me, discerning to fulfil
This labour, by slow prudence to make mild
A rugged people, and thro' soft degrees
Subdue them to the useful and the good.
Most blameless is he, centred in the sphere
Of common duties, not to fail
In offices of tenderness, and pay
Meet adoration to my household gods,
When I am gone. He works his work, I mine.

There lies the port; the vessel puffs her sail:
There gloom the dark, broad seas. My mariners,
Souls that have toil'd, and wrought, and thought with me--
That ever with a frolic welcome took
The thunder and the sunshine, and opposed
Free hearts, free foreheads--you and I are old;
Old age hath yet his honour and his toil;
Death closes all: but something ere the end,
Some work of noble note, may yet be done,
Not unbecoming men that strove with Gods.
The lights begin to twinkle from the rocks:
The long day wanes: the slow moon climbs: the deep
Moans round with many voices. Come, my friends,
'T is not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.
It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:
It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,
And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.
Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days

there was a lot more mention of them round 2009 when us anglos properly discovered them. I guess they dropped out of popularity before Tiqqun #2 could get an english publication. Damn shame, I'd like the lot of that on paper.
I know it's one of their most important works theoretically, but Bloom went right through me. It wasn't that interesting when I read it years back. I think I'll try it out again. Thanks for the reminder!

There was a re-translation of Theory Of Bloom by Robert Hurley (who is no joke; he is the original translator of Foucault's History of Sexuality) that goes a lot more smoothly than the anonymously-translated version previously available. A lot of the stylistic elements and poetry in the prose really come through in the Hurley translation.

Yeah, definitely pretentious and over-the-top, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't really like the aesthetic.

But I guess I'm biased, since I solely did tags, the most poetic form IMO.

You don't look out there for God, something in the sky, you look in you.

We are a way for the universe to look at itself.

No work of love will flourish out of guilt, fear, or hollowness of the heart, just as no valid plans for the future can be made by those who are incapable of living now.

The myths underlying our culture and underlying our common sense have not taught us to feel IDENTICAL with the universe, but only parts of it, only in it, only confronting it - aliens.

But at any rate, the POINT is that God is what nobody admits to being, and everybody really is.

Technology is destructive only in the hands of people who do not realize that they are one and the same process as the universe.

Hello again

I've requested several quotes for stickers, they are muoy expensive.

I purchased a test bundle of PVC adhesive paper in A4 Size, unsure on quality and they're bloody $8 for 10. I will post a new thread when they arrive.

I was thinking I could print a few paragraphs and slice them up. I have also purchased a snapback to hide my face from cameras, do you think they'd go as far as to check for fingerprints?

Also I've been looking for tags, I am trying to find ones with the little metal inlets so assholes can't go around ripping them down so easily. Preferable white although I am having trouble finding them. Tying these around in parks, trees and whatnot would be nice.

I have gotten a new job that pays about $23 an hour, I'll be able to pour more money into the budget, I don't really care about money. I will be working full time and writing notes all day is a pain in the ass, I'd like help geting more quotes ect from you guys, as my free time is drying up, I have blisters already!

Cheers guys for helping so far, I will make a new thread when they arrive

Make some Toynbee Tiles.

A few friends and I made some linoleum ones when we were sixteen, and put them on the road outside of our school and around the general area. We had each told our parents that we were staying over each others houses, so put them down at about 3am. I'm twenty two now, and some of them are still there.
