http://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/11/17/jaden-and-willow-smith-exclusive-joint-interview/?_r=0

>WILLOW: That’s what I do with novels. There’re no novels that I like to read so I write my own novels, and then I read them again, and it’s the best thing.

>JADEN: Willow’s been writing her own novels since she was 6.

/lit/ would you read Willow Smith's novels? what do you think they're about? what could they possibly compare to?

>> No.5745353

>>5745338
No.

Literature is about communication.

Judging from this interview, Willow isn't communicating; she's masturbating.

>What are some of the themes that recur in your work?

>JADEN: The P.C.H. being one of them; the melancholiness of the ocean; the melancholiness of everything else.

Kid's a rock-solid Publishers' Clearing House booster. Can't be all bad.

The really hilarious thing about all this, and by 'all this' I mean:

>JADEN: [bursts into laughter] As soon as me and Willow started releasing music, that’s one thing that the whole world took away is, okay, they unlocked another step of honesty. If these guys can be honest about everything, then we can be more honest.

... is that I honestly anticipate the absence of any point when they look back on this and feel embarrassed. They'll look back and feel incredulous that the NYT published that shit, and rightly so.

>> No.5745592

>JADEN: It’s prana energy because they still breathe through their stomach. They remember. Babies remember.

>WILLOW: When they’re in the stomach, they’re so aware, putting all their bones together, putting all their ligaments together. But they’re shocked by this harsh world.

>in the stomach

I can't breathe

>> No.5745606

>> No.5745607

It kind of reminds me of this joke quote from Garth Marenghi:

> I am one of the few writers who have written more books then they've read.

Only Willow's quote is, somehow, far far more stupid.

>> No.5745619

>>5745606

I'm fine with it in itself, because she's literally 14 years old. I just can't believe it's being put in a major publication.

I wonder if it's Will Smith's influence and if maybe someone should mention to him that his kids are just, like, kids. Maybe he doesn't know.

It seems like a weird description. Ono would have been largely unheard-of - maybe Tracy Emin levels of fame, known to the cultural elite but not at all outside it - if she hadn't married Lennon. Whereas Jaden is already absurdly famous. I can see the parallel insofar as he's famous solely because his dad is, but eh.

In reality, he'll grow up to be a mediocre rapper who never stops because he never needs to, and that'll pretty much be it. I'd say the chances of a Michael Jackson style decades-long meltdown are fairly low.

>JADEN: Exactly. Because your mind has a duality to it. So when one thought goes into your mind, it’s not just one thought, it has to bounce off both hemispheres of the brain. When you’re thinking about something happy, you’re thinking about something sad. When you think about an apple, you also think about the opposite of an apple. It’s a tool for understanding mathematics and things with two separate realities. But for creativity: That comes from a place of oneness. That’s not a duality consciousness. And you can’t listen to your mind in those times — it’ll tell you what you think and also what other people think.

No, that's Charles Thomson (I believe), a former associate with Childish (they co-created stuckism), who have since parted ways.

I'd like to see these two kids lose *everytging* for two whole years -- no family, no friends, no coterie, no staff, no entourage, no home, no wealth, no rides, no food -- just the two of them alone in this ugly world, hustling what little money tgey can, eating in community soup kitchens, living homeless in the streets. I would watch the hell out of that. Someone call th Smiths; I want this reality tv show funded and executed immediately.
