I believe this book was also published to disestablish the contemporary theories revolving around WW II that there were clear 'good' guys and 'bad' guys. A contemporary backlash against the propaganda.

Err.. I think you're reading too much into it. Gravity's Rainbow is mostly just a hilarious series of random gags. Pynchon said himself he writes high-brow comic books. Personally, that's why I love him. It's like an episode of an Adult Swim show, only you get literary cred for reading it because nobody realizes how fun it is!

This is B- trolling

No. Not even close asshole. Why even read a novel if you're not going to glean ANYTHING from it?

I'm not even referring to any symbolism, or metaphor or anything like that. I'm referring to A CULTURAL PHENOMENON going on at the time.

Hey idiot.

Use correct punctuation if you want me to think you have more than 100 IQ points. This isn't some E.E. Cummings post-modern poem

>>5742722
I understood the cultural phenomenon going on at the time. It was LSD and Pynchon took a lot of it while writing this, that's why it's so off-the-wall weird. Why are oyu trying to read "deep" meanings into what's essentially a giant drug trip? Relax and have fun man, Pynchon is a great writer, but he's not trying to communicate anything deep.

Are you referring to me? Because I'm not trolling and I've never had a "public mental breakdown" here or anywhere.

I'm going to be honest here guys. I have this copy with the cover but you know, I don't care because I've grown to like the cover art.

As a method of gaining traction on an anime image board to feel better about yourself. If I am correct I applaud you dedication to a cause, but mourn your inability to communication beyond your solipsistic desire to mater.
The trolling reads too generic for anyone to buy into it, and the voices seem oddly similar, especially in the empathized words via quotation marks and caps lock.

I can see that you won't get a very good answer out of the people in this thread.

Don't blame them; They're post-structuralists and deconstructionists. To them "Aristotle" is a curse word. They think that people are composed of literal literary and spoken language, and that a true understanding of language comes at the expense of or at the death of the author.

This generation is doomed to be not the gardeners, but the soil from which their thoughts are grown. They are eternally infants playing peek-a-boo, who think that if they cannot see a thing it may as well not exist.

You cannot talk about propaganda on this website. The people here have been conditioned to believe against it. You are better off browsing the waybackmachine than this site in it's present form.
