"Well, well," said he, "do not make yourself unhappy. If you are a good girl for the next ten yeas, I will take you to a review at the end of them."

I'm loving this book so much., thoughts on it?

It's more fun to read if you imagine that everyone is so stuffy and cranky because they're constantly aroused and have no recourse for relief.

I think it's terrible and that Jane Austen and all of her characters are annoying cunts.

Someone needs their Austen irony meter checked.

THIS. Though Mansfield Park is still really boring no matter what perspective you try to take on to it.

Jane Austen, in writing Pride and Prejudice, has single-handedly spawned one of the most insane literary fanbases of all time.

I should know; I am one.

I know that she was trying to be ironic and what not, and she failed and instead was a cunt.

This is one of those times when the movie really was better than the book.

I enjoyed the book.

But the movie was better.

>> No.571011

I have not read the book yet, but the movie is great.

What about the BBC miniseries?

I haven't yet bothered to watch it. From what I've seen, Matthew MacFayden is a far superior Mr. Darcy, and to be perfectly honest, the length intimidates me.

Colin Firth just doesn't satisfy my raging Darcy-boner.

I haven't any right to criticise books, and I don't do it except when I hate them. I often want to criticise Jane Austen, but her books madden me so that I can't conceal my frenzy from the reader; and therefore I have to stop every time I begin. Everytime I read 'Pride and Prejudice' I want to dig her up and beat her over the skull with her own shin-bone.
