what would be an interesting phenomena in Calvin&Hobbes I could examine for a paper? I'm too retarded to come up with something by myself.

there was one of the cartoons where calvin dreamed of being a fighter pilot and blowing up his school. apparently a shitload of people complained about it. i think watterson's response was something like "apparently some of my readers never went to school themselves"

also there was another cartoon where hobbes is insulting calvin and says things like you're stupid, you smell etc and then adds "and you're adopted". i think that caused a minor shitstorm too when people complained that he was making being adopted was a bad thing

must be something in one of those worth a paper

p.s. when there's just one, it's a phenomenon

I'm just coming out of the atheism thread, so put some salt on this slug, but you could discuss faith.

Hobbes is obviously not real, but Calvin's faith in his existence gives him strength and friendship for which he'd be weaker if without. Discuss the necessity of faith in the lives of children, relate to religion, and how his faith is a threat to his parents, teachers, and other authority figures.

Calvin's 'snowman art' is a whole wealth of possibilities
