Why does Locke get all the credit when his ideas of natural rights and democracy were borrowed from Spinoza?

Spinoza is seriously underated.

Kant willfully igmored but thanks to Shelling,Hegel and Nietzsche he is gaining more recognition.

This. Even in classes specifically focused on his time period + subject matter will just gloss over him real quick. Like Schopenhauer he's (unfortunately) ignored in current academia. It's always: Descartes=>Locke=>Hume=>Kant=>Hegel=>Nietzsche=>Marx.

I dunno, my uni is heavily analytically bent so maybe the more continental schools hit him up more like that anon said?
