Authors whose books you dislike (or assume you'd dislike) even though you haven't read any of them.

Fuck you, I love King :(

After-all, he is the undisputed King of /lit/. He's the enemy of our greatest enemy, Stephanie Heifer Meyer.

Yeah, I read both the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. They're not great books, but they made the long-ass flights go by a little quicker. It's obnoxious that Dan Brown makes so much money, but I don't spend a lot of time thinking about it.

Stephen King wishes he could be A&W. King is more like Country Buffet. Shitty, shitty, shitty.

>> No.564431

Anyone who has read more than 2 or 3 Stephen King books is a fucking idiot.

That said, I read "Lisi's Story" or something like that once, just to prove to myself how shitty of a writer King is.

Yes, the plot sucked. Yes, the book was ten times longer than it needed to be.

BUT, I was surprised to find a handful of sentences and paragraphs that were actually written quite masterfully.

But he still fucking sucks. Seriously, the guy who called him the greatest writer of the last 50 years--you are a fucking Retard. Go read some Pynchon and shit yourself.

Literature is not about taste. King has never and will never win the National Book Award or fucking Nobel Prize for a reason.

It's because he's a low-brow retard with diarrhea of the pen.

Seriously, does he even READ his shit before he sends it to the publisher? Do THEY even read it?

They know idiots like you people will buy it regardless...

The only King I read was his non-fiction, and from that I gather he probably thinks that Sparks is a pretentious douche.

I'm going with Dan Brown, since I have (technically) read King.

Because /lit/ is filled with pretentious wannabe intellectuals and since Dan Brown writes books that anyone can read he's no good to them. That simple.

The only problem I have with him is his habit of describing bullshit conspiracy theories as facts - that doesn't really have anything to do with the actual books though.

>> No.566398

admittedly he's churned out some shite in the past while, but that, in no way detracts from the brilliance of his earlier novels/stories-Different Seasons, especially. guy who i think refered to The Shining as an metaphor for christianity. No, just no.

>> No.566472

I find King a hit and miss author. Some of his books are terrible, and some are entertaining.

Obviously it's not great literature, but not everything has to be.

>> No.566474

Jim Butcher's books (They're called "The Dresden Files" right?).

Lame fantasy covers, huge block lettering for the title/author's name on the cover like a Dean Koontz/James Patterson book, sounds like noir Harry Potter shit, and I cringed when /lit/ posted his author bio and he mentions every stupid little thing he does, like mastered five different types of martial arts and what not-- it was like reading a virgin's Okay Cupid profile.

Oh, and David Wong's "John Dies at he End." I hate that fag's cracked articles, the ironic title his book has, the fact that he's only an author because he's e-famous, and I'm 99% certain he comes to /lit/ hoping we'll discuss his book.

>> No.566497

Any author whose book covers typically feature the title's name in a smaller font than the author's.
