I know many of you faggots are on goodreads.

So when are we going to talk about the fact that their "Best Books of all Time" list features
The Hunger Games, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and fuckin Twilight as numbers 1 - 3?

I like the site, but damn.

And I know it's "chosen by readers".
Still, that's really really sad.

you know 80% of people on good reads are women and a lot of them are housewives.

It's a problem with any vote-based sites, children and housewives have more time to get into these sites and vote more. These things are influenced by hype more than anything else.

Case in point: The IMDB top 250.

http://www.imdb.com/chart/top

>tfw Dark Knight idiot-festival on 4
>tfw Lord Of The Rings frolicky gayness on 9, 11 and 16
>tfw Rear Window only on 34
>tfw Dr. Strangelove not on 1, but on 45, 41 places below the idiot-fest

Yeah hyped up good generally have a lot of negative reviews by angry housewives who found them boring.

people can like popular stuff all they like, I like a lot of popular things as well. i like a lot of Stephen King's work and really enjoy GRRM as well. And admittedly, jkr is a capable author and The Hunger Games is not a bad book. it's young adult fiction, not my cup of tea, but not "bad".

but come on now, don't you think it's a little sad up that a huge reader's site lists these three as their "BEST BOOKS OF ALL TIME"?

You use goodreads to look up books and to keep track of what you read. Nothing else.

it's user generated, not some authoritative site listing. it means 'a lot of people like this books' which is not surprising or depressing

You're the pleb, bro. Golet of Fire is so large because JKR continually had to write in elements because she was fucking up her own plot

Half Blood Prince is the best of the 7; the book itself is great and reads like a mystery, and the cave part at the end blows everything that she's ever written out of the water
