I think, if anything, this is a new level of shitposting: having a conversation with a person one knows in real life, on an anonymous imageboard, anonymously.

But yeah, it's only bad because I make it bad, I guess. Well, everyone in the English program I've met so far has apparently shit tastes. In one class, wherein we discuss literary tools, examples are regulated to fucking Breaking Bad instead of actual goddam books. It's so bad that I've gone full class-clown mode, almost; I make up shit with minimal support in the texts we cover just to make these two classmates mad, then stare into space while moving left and right in my comfy chair, while the class argues.

Of the (few) people I've talked to about books, one guy has a whole bookshelf of Stephen King he is proud of, one (fat) girl won't fucking shut up to me about Harry Potter or ASOIAF and other such things, and one (not-fat) girl at least knows Miranda July and now Tao Lin which are both more interesting than the norm (though the latter does not count, really, as I rec'd him to her).

tl;dr I am still perplexed by the fact that the only people I've known with relateable tastes are a CS major and two former coworkers with equally not-English majors

How it usually works is I'd get to campus and think "alright, I'm gonna just not say anything at all in my classes today" then I make it through my first class at noon without a word, then read for two hours before my next class, and make it like 5 minutes before someone makes some asinine claim, at which point I mumble something critical, then just groan and rub my face for the next hour, while the rest of the class is wasted by people arguing over different things (that is, two people will argue, but each person is thinking a separate conversation, so the argument doesn't work). My third class (fuckin' Japanese Philosophy) is a mixed bag; either it's actually interesting, or I spend all 75min groaning, rubbing my face, and internally laughing at the fact that most everyone else in the class fits the image of a person who would take Jap Phi). My last class is fucking 3 hours of Ethics, with the prof saying nothing new for the whole time, until fucking 8:30pm.

English at UNF is just called English, not split between Lit and Writing like in UCF. Possibly-coinciddentally, all English major girls I've met here seem to be doing English with Creative Writing minor, doing (shitty) poetry. All dudes I've met, I've not discussed literature with, but they all look sincerely (ie, not post-ironically) normcore, so it's anyone's guess what these kids read.

I've decided to take up an "interim period" as Tao Lin described in Taipei. Except instead of working on a novel, I'm abstaining from socialization to focus on my film and lit backlogs. I've decided nothing anyone says/does/thinks is even remotely important until one is able to legally buy alcohol. Essentially, I've concluded that all our m8s and similar-minded people were fuccbois because they either thought gettin omg soo drunk xDD was the shit, or they thought alcohol was horribly frightening, and both opinions are just dumb. I think I've said this before, but all 21+ people I've met at work-parties were somehow vastly more mature than our m8s. I don't know if it was strictly because of the fact that these were actual Normal people, instead of our fucking vidya-nerd friends, or if it was related to my Alcohol Theory, or if it was a combination (which is most likely). As such, I am just gonna rarely speak at uni, aside from calling ASOIAF shit or rec-ing Tao Lin to people, until I turn 21, at which point I'll just try to find some shitty, pretentious, #hip bar, where I may be able to discuss the works of Bergman, hopefully being the least pretentious person taking part in conversations lel
