lets say there was a breakdown of society and the land descended into chaos under the rule of violent mobs. Your'e living in a makeshift monastery which used to be a library but the barbarian plebs are at the gates and will soon fuck every fart out of your tender asshole. You have time to escape with the complete works of ONE author. Who do you choose n why?

I don't escape.

I laugh bible in hand, as I see the whole monastery collapse on their heads while they try to chase me, blinded by wrath and lust, trapped by their own primitive instincts.

As I watch over the ruins of the monastery, hearing their suffocating cries for help, I approach their bodies, and make em eat random pages of the book, which I throw after I have finished, over the pile of stone and rot.

I gaze at the horizon, as white vessels descend from the skies. I lower my head and raise my arm and finger to the sky.

Imagine taking a book other than The Bible. Going to your grave knowing that you singlehandedly ended thousands of years of Western culture and nobody else, for as long as humans exist, will ever know that the Bible even existed.

Heavy stuff. I'd take the Bible almost out of moral obligation.

It's just 4chan pretending, in real life disphoria makes it absurdly hard to go outside and interact with people so we overcompensate here.

Because if it were for me I would pick to be okay with myself, duh. If I eventually commit sudoku it won't be because I felt it was the best thing possible.
Also, I hope you're saging since this is offtopic shit.

To retain some sort of topic:
I would probably take some sort of fiction that allowed me to convince myself that things could be better, maybe Dune; or something where people live in a variety of conditions different from the ones I was rise in like Misteriosa Buenos Aires.
If I was serious about surviving I would probably go for any guide by John Seymour, my dad had one of his biggest compendiums and it had everything from how to make moonshine to how to build a greenhouse, including tending crops or having beehives, with schematics, step by steps, and lots of details.

>>5576747
I assumed you have a problem with "avatarfagging" when I was just using a single pic to convey a meaning, even if I tend to use the same pic a lot.

I think I'm a pretty mature person, and I cringe whenever I visit /lgbt/. It has a lot to do with people on hormones going through their teen years again only that with the freedom of an adult. Strong emotions everywhere, pointless tantrums and all that. After 3 or 4 years it stabilizes again.

Proust.
With all the time in the world I would still be hardly able to get everything there is to get, so if I'm curse to re read for ever at least it can be rewarding.

The nearest library to me has walls that are mainly 2-story windows; it's the last place in which I'd be hiding from barbarians or anyone else.

With that said I'd run in and grab the complete novels of James Ellroy before finding a secure place to hide, and then I'd daydream about rebuilding the screaming violent corrupt US of his mythos.

Borges.

Razed the garden, profaned the chalices and the altars, by horse the Huns broke into the Monastic library and they tore the incomprehensible books and they vituperated them and they burnt them, fearing their symbols and characters might be concealing secret blasphemies against their God, who was an iron scimitar...

Yet a part of me wishes to cast down his sadistic and cold writing and instead grab the books of his charismatic long lost brother, Calvino, whose works were full of warmth and idealism.

Who won: the emperor or the traveller?
