Do you think it would be autistic of me to write a very long "literary" novel and (should selling it to an agent fail) conduct my own marketing campaign, involving guerrilla tactics like covering subway ads with professional-looking ads of my own, spamming news outlets to review it, and basically obsessively "marketing" my book IRL (not by spamming 4chan etc) until it at least gets reviewed or something?

I feel this might be a punk way to go about doing this should traditional routes to publishing (which in my country are run by interconnected middle-class journalists and editors etc from the same schools) should fail?

Thank you

yes that would be autistic of you, and it probably wouldn't work

You'll be autistic if you never write a novel also. I'm fine with either outcome.

Why would it be autistic?
And why wouldn't it work?
